This album is a celebration of nature and the deep connection we share with it. As a Swede living in Copenhagen, I’ve come to miss the natural world immensely. When I wanted to create something meaningful for the planet, I turned to the poetry of Edith Södergran, whose work captures the magnificence of the smallest blade of grass. The compositions are inspired by her timeless and powerful poetry, exploring themes of nature, womanhood, and life’s fragility. The project took on a personal dimension after my father’s passing, with one particular poem, Sjukbesök, vividly bringing back my last moments with him. That poem became a song in an almost magical way. Featuring Stina Ekblad as the voice of Södergran, the album blends Scandinavian tones with the raw beauty of jazz and classical influences, evoking the scent of frost, forest floors, and moss. It’s a tribute to the trees that sustain us all.

Ended the year with the best news: My debut album 'A Billion Years Too Soon' was named 'One of the best Norwegian albums of 2024" by Dagsavisen in Norway. It's now live on my channel so feel free to check it out and see if you like it as well <33
Dear listener, welcome to my page! I'm so excited to start 2025 here at Sleeve and cannot wait to bring you along on my not so normal life. First up is a trip to the mountains of Norway to begin the work of my next album <33 Tag along!
In February 2024, she released the highly anticipated debut album A Billion Years Too Soon. Dagsavisen named the album: "One of the best Norwegian albums of 2024" Through the album's nine tracks, listeners are invited into Marie's unique musical universe where she seamlessly weaves her cultural heritage with modern, electronic music. The album was written and produced in collaboration with Martin Vinje, known for his work with Sigrid and Neon Ion. Together, they have created a unique musical universe of melancholy, traditional instruments, beautiful melodies, and atmospheric synths firmly rooted in a danceable club landscape. The personal lyrics in both English and Azerbaijani, spoken in Northern Iran, tell the story of Marie's roots, the loss of her father three years prior, and the ups and downs of life. "With A Billion Years Too Soon Marie Sahba has created one of the best pop albums of the spring, a complex and at times thrilling, captivatingly dark interweaving of memories and emotions. [...] An absolutely delightful album that will find its audience both in solitude and at concerts and club floors." - Dagsavisen
This Saturday, we’re doing something super special, and honestly, I can’t wait. It’s a duo performance with Lilibeth, and we’ve been having so much fun putting it all together. The idea is simple but powerful: we’re inviting people to write letters—about their wishes, dreams, or whatever’s on their minds right now. We’re taking those letters and weaving them into the performance, giving their words a voice.
Me getting ready...
Lilibeth, who is just ridiculously creative, has made this stunning sculpture—a giant dress out of old letters. It’s massive and beautiful and has so much presence, like it’s carrying all these untold stories.
I met Lilibeth at Charlottenborg during the medal ceremony for visual artists. I was doing a solo performance, and afterward, she came up to me and said, “We have to do something together.” Just like that. And now, here we are. It feels so natural, like this was meant to happen.
Can’t wait for Saturday! More info here.
