Daydream Devices is a collection of dreamy pieces of music that slip quietly into the listener's consciousness. However, the underlying mood refuses to leave the listener undisturbed. A cello and a bass clarinet floating horizontally over a web of beats and synthetic sounds. The music is evocative, cinematic, horizontal, sparkling and unpredictable like a dream. In this encounter, a hybrid universe is created where classical instruments take on new sonic spaces and drum machines and samplers become organic instruments. Copenhagen-based quartet OTAS (DK/NO) presents their debut release Daydream Devices (Ør Records) with video by motion graphic artist Victor Hansen. Released exclusively on the newly launched digital platform Sleeve.fm, Bandcamp and OTAS own webpage.

    Thrilled to be here!

It’s been exactly 18 years since we started making music together as Moses Hightower, and we’re thrilled about how many beautiful ears we’ve reached in that time. It’s been a fun journey—resulting in some grey beards along with all the music—but now we’re ramping things up! We’re really excited to be joining Sleeve, this fresh new platform, and we hope you’ll come along for the ride.

Here, you can follow our music and the dorks behind it, far from ads, algorithms and tech overlords. Sleeve gives us the freedom to share both old and new music, as well as videos, in high quality—without any middlemen.

It’s a refreshing alternative to the pretty arid and impersonal landscape of streaming and social media, opening up new possibilities. It inspires us to share more of our creative process and connect more directly with the fine humans who are most into what we do.

Right now, we’re deep into work on a new album, so if you subscribe, there’s plenty of behind-the-scenes material coming your way. We’ll regularly dig up old, obscure stuff and demos to share with those of you who are extra invested—you might even find yourselves with the occasional ticket or merch perk. Of course, everybody will get updates on concerts (some happening real soon!) and other shenanigans.

But for now—welcome, and let’s stay in touch!

We're slowly uploading the Solborg catalogue to Sleeve. Full access for all Backstage-Pass and All-Acces subscribers.

Here Maniscalco/Bigoni/Solborg and the album Canto.

    Enjoy!

    The press wrote:
"Rewriting the rules of contemporary chamber jazz, Solborg’s music is as vital today as Joe McPhee’s Po Music ensembles of the 90s.”
    Fred Grand - JazzJournal.UK

"proposing a vital experience, making music that can’t forget sound (in its acoustic properties) and listening, both internal (oneself) and external (the others). This music is extremely rich and adorned, [..] as discreet as it is persistent "
    Sandro Cerini, Musica Jazz

"Such profound and rare beauty is achieved only when kindred spirits meet and keep refining their poetic agenda"
    Eyal Hareuveni, Salt Peanuts

" ..radiates a power that’s as likely to deliver a gentle shock as brighten the room with its warmth". Dave Sumner, The Best Jazz on Bandcamp: June 2022

Francesco Bigoni − Tenor & alto saxophone, clarinet
Mark Solborg − Guitars, devices & electronics
Emanuele Maniscalco − Rhodes, piano & keyboards

With a buzz in our ears, we sing our way through the cantos of a new book. Shout – or whisper – our musical poetry into a spacious realm of warm analog keyboards, strings and reeds, flooded with subtle electronics, granular processing and microtonality. Interwoven contemporary chamber music tableaux are carefully folded into a unique multilayered electroacoustic blend – grandiose and yet intimate.

Maniscalco/Bigoni/Solborg navigate freely with and around original materials. This is about improvising as a unit while honouring or challenging the idea of a song. To instantly react to each other and create chamber-like music with a strong presence, that bridges melodic poetry and contemporary abstraction. This music does not care about genre or style. It is essentially about musical conversation and made for ears interested in dialogue.

This Danish/Italian trio has worked their musical approach intensely for a decade. The results can be heard on its two prior albums, praised internationally by audience and critics. With CANTO, the three musicians bring their work and musical approach into a new crisp territory.

Album Release this friday: Songs of Solitude

Theatre of Voices and Concerto Copenhagen’s new album, Songs of Solitude, invites listeners into a spiritual and timeless soundscape where past and present merge.

    Presave it here.

On Songs of Solitude, Theatre of Voices, Concerto Copenhagen, Michala Petri, and Paul Hillier unite in a unique collaboration, blending Sunleif Rasmussen’s music with ancient texts and a contemporary musical language.

The album features two works, each exploring the spiritual and mythological in its own way, drawing listeners into an enigmatic world of ancient tales.

In Songs of Solitude and Night, texts from The Elder Edda—rooted in Viking history—intertwine with the mysterious sounds of bass recorder, percussion, and wordless glissando singing.

The second part brings William Heinesen’s poem Hogboy to life in a dramatic story of a spirit from the Stone Age, where female voices dance in the moonlight while male voices give sound to the darkness of the underworld. Dedicated to Paul Hillier and Theatre of Voices, the piece is recorded with the renowned recorder soloist Michala Petri.

The cantata Klar op vort mod, lys for vor fod, featuring Concerto Copenhagen, draws its structure from Bach’s cantatas and is written for soprano, baritone, and Baroque ensemble. Inspired by Gregorian chant and Baroque music, Rasmussen creates a modern work exploring prayer and the power of community.

Songs of Solitude will be released on February 28 digitally and on CD via Dacapo Records.

Concerto Copenhagen presents “Armonico Tributo” at Carnegie Hall, New York -A tribute to the rich diversity of Baroque music!

On February 25, 2025, Concerto Copenhagen will perform at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert is a tribute to the rich diversity of Baroque music, featuring works by Georg Muffat, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Georg Friedrich Handel.

The program is inspired by Concerto Copenhagen’s critically acclaimed 2022 album Armonico Tributo, which has received widespread international recognition for its interpretation of Georg Muffat’s music. The title is drawn from Muffat’s collection of five sonatas, originally composed to commemorate Salzburg’s 1100th anniversary in 1682. Born in Alsace—a region plagued by wars between powerful nations—Muffat aimed to unite the three central Baroque musical traditions. His music uniquely blends Italian melodiousness, French harmony and elegance, and German structure and counterpoint.

In the foreword to the work, Muffat wrote:
“The weapons of war and their consequences are far from me. Notes, harmonies, the sounds of music are my paths. And when I combine the French, German, and Italian, it is not to incite war, but out of a desire for harmony among people and a cautious hope for peace.”

Concerto Copenhagen, under the direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen, will also perform works by two of the Baroque era’s most beloved composers—Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel—offering a comprehensive presentation of the many facets of European Baroque music.

    Enjoy Armonico Tributo here!
