Inside Sleeve

You know that feeling when something clicks for an artist? Every time we talk to musicians about Sleeve, there’s always that one thing that hits home for them. Take one of our favorite drummers. His DMs on Instagram are flooded with stuff like “What sticks are you using?” or “How do you get that sound?” He loves the attention, but it’s overwhelming. Could he just cut through the noise and respond to the people who care? That would be gold.

Then there’s the artist who told us a split payment system would literally change her life. No more wrangling spreadsheets or chasing down producers, session musicians, and co-writers. She wants to focus on the music, not the math. And we’ve got this up-and-coming singer who’s itching to share her unreleased tracks. She wants to keep her vibe fresh for a new audience, but she knows her die-hard fans would eat up those exclusive sneak peeks. Every artist has their must-have feature, and it’s so cool hearing what hits the mark for each one. Prioritizing all of it? Well, that’s our daily balancing act.

I came across this gem of a quote from James Blake: "Instagram followers mean nothing if you can't reach them." So true, right? It’s a problem so many creators face. Platforms are all about the content, but what about the creators? Sure, your post might blow up if it’s got viral potential, but the algorithms aren’t designed to serve the artists themselves. Blake’s post got me thinking...

Check it out on his Instagram. It’s worth a scroll.

Random Reflections

I’ve been knee-deep in music podcasts lately. As a jury member for Audiodays in Denmark, I’ve listened to so many incredible stories about the music world. It’s wild how podcasts can open up new layers to music that often get overlooked. After chatting with listeners, I realized most of us are tuning in while commuting—biking, driving, or just strolling around.

But here’s a thought: what if artists could share the stories behind their tracks without the hassle of producing a full-on podcast? Like a quick, organic way to give fans a peek behind the curtain. Just a random reflection from this week...

Stay tuned,
Anna
