Inside Sleeve: A Little Milestone
Milestones deserve celebration—not just the big holidays like Christmas (though we’ll gladly raise a glass to that, too), but also the quiet, personal wins. This week, we reached one of those milestones.
The Danish artist Pernille Rosendahl shared an exclusive prerelease of her upcoming song on her Sleeve page, inviting her newsletter subscribers to join her. Within the first 24 hours, nearly 50 people followed, listened, and left comments. Watching real people engage with something we’ve built feels incredible—tangible proof of what we’re creating. It’s the first of many moments like this, and we’re soaking up the lessons.
Tuesday Trends: Can You Separate the Art from the Artist?
Music historian Ted Gioia’s latest essay dives into one of the thorniest debates of our time: cancel culture and its impact on how we view art. His conclusion? It’s complicated.
When you listen to Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, or watch a Woody Allen film, are you endorsing their personal failings? And how far do you go—boycotting their collaborators too? Gioia argues that separating the art from the artist is easier said than done, especially when controversies threaten to overshadow the work.

Random Reflections
Who would have thought that Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year—just like Liner Notes? But of course, the holiday season is about so much more than just one day.
To everyone celebrating this season—Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, New Year’s, or simply a chance to slow down—we wish you joy, peace, and connection.
For those surrounded by big family gatherings, spending the season solo, playing gigs during the holidays, or finally taking that much-needed break (something many artists and freelancers forget), we see you.
Thank you for reading and for being part of this with us 🙏🏼
